It's still raining, but rumour has it that the sun will make an appearance tomorrow. Perhaps we can finally finish the swimming pool..um..I mean flower bed that we started last weekend. Not a lot to say today really - though I heard a great story from one of our curators. Seems that yesterday, he and the conservators were working on a catboat that the Museum received in the '80s - they're going to put it in our new International Small Craft Center (otherwise known as "It's a Small Craft World")and so they were doing some cleaning. Apparently, whoever originally accessioned it back in the early '80s never checked below decks. Apparently there was a marine head (potty) on board. Apparently it had never been emptied. By all accounts the ensuing explosion was more pungeant than life-threatening. I'm happy to report that catboat, curator, and volunteers are all fine and decontaminated and mostly smell allright. Ahh.....Friday.
